The methods, plainly

We lead with electrolysed water, generated on site from water and a trace of salt. It produces hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a GECA-certified, TGA-listed disinfectant that reverts to salt water after use. We pair it with stabilised aqueous ozone, which breaks back down to oxygen and water, and dry steam for low-moisture thermal decontamination of grout, upholstery and hard-to-reach surfaces. Colour-coded microfibre and disciplined dwell times tie the system together.

This is cleaning with no added synthetic chemicals and no hazardous residue. It is not chemical-free, and we will not describe it that way. Where a task is disinfection-critical, we retain TGA-listed disinfectants and use them properly rather than pretend they aren't needed.

Why the health case matters

The evidence on cleaning-chemical exposure is hard to ignore. The ECRHS study by Svanes et al. (2018) found lung-function decline in cleaners comparable to around 20 pack-years of smoking. The AIHW attributes 9 to 15 per cent of adult-onset asthma to occupational exposure, and names cleaning as a high-risk occupation. Deloitte Access Economics puts the cost of asthma to Australian employers at $526.7 million a year. Those numbers land on cleaners first, but building occupants breathe the same air.

WHS and the 2026 change

From 1 December 2026, enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) replace the current WES across roughly 700 reviewed chemicals. Under the WHS hierarchy of controls, elimination sits at the top — removing a hazard beats managing it with ventilation or PPE. Switching to low-tox methods is a direct elimination strategy, and it positions Adelaide workplaces ahead of the compliance shift rather than scrambling behind it.

Ratings and green credentials

For sites chasing environmental performance, the alignment is straightforward. GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit. WELL's Cleaning Products and Protocol feature targets hazardous-chemical reduction. NABERS Indoor Environment tests VOCs and formaldehyde — both of which our approach helps keep down.
