Wollongong's building stock is varied. Stabilised aqueous ozone breaks down to oxygen and water. Dry steam handles low-moisture thermal decontamination, which is useful where humidity already makes over-wetting a problem. Colour-coded microfibre with disciplined dwell times ties it together. Where a task is disinfection-critical, we retain TGA-listed disinfectants rather than pretend they are never needed.

To be precise about what that means: we work with no added synthetic chemicals on standard scopes and leave no hazardous residue. We do not claim "chemical-free" cleaning, because that is not an honest description of any cleaning process.

The site types that benefit most

Some environments gain more than others from a low-tox approach. Childcare and early-learning centres, where children spend hours at floor level and mouth-contact is constant, are an obvious case for childcare cleaning that avoids leaving residue on surfaces. Medical and allied-health rooms need reliable disinfection alongside good indoor air, which is what our medical cleaning is built around. The health and WHS case

The evidence on cleaning-chemical exposure is now hard to ignore. The ECRHS study by Svanes et al. (2018) linked regular use of cleaning products to lung-function decline in cleaners on a scale comparable to around 20 pack-years of smoking. The AIHW attributes between 9 and 15 per cent of adult-onset asthma to occupational exposure, and names cleaning as a high-risk occupation. Deloitte Access Economics has put the cost of asthma to Australian employers at $526.7 million a year.

This is also becoming a compliance question. From 1 December 2026, enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) replace the current Workplace Exposure Standards across roughly 700 reviewed chemicals. Under the WHS hierarchy of controls, elimination sits at the top: removing a hazardous substance is more effective than trying to ventilate or protect people from it. Choosing methods that do not introduce hazardous chemistry in the first place is the cleanest way to stay ahead of that shift.
