Eco Retail & Showroom Cleaning in Cairns
In a Cairns retail floor or showroom, presentation is the product — smeared glass, tacky floors and a lingering chemical smell all cost you the sale. GreenClean delivers streak-free, residue-free finishes using electrolysed water, aqueous ozone and dry steam, so your stock, your staff and your shoppers are not breathing in the cleaning. Same standard, no hazardous residue.

Presentation without the residue
Retail is judged in seconds. Glass entries, display cabinets, polished floors and mirrored showroom surfaces are the first thing a shopper reads, and they read them instantly. Conventional cleaning often trades a quick shine for a film — the tacky residue that attracts dust, dulls within hours and traps footprints across a shopfloor.
Our approach is built around finish quality. Electrolysed water (hypochlorous acid generated on site from water and a trace of salt) cleans and sanitises then reverts to salt water, leaving no synthetic film on glass or hard surfaces. That means genuinely streak-free display cases and entry doors, and floors that stay looking cleaned for longer because there is nothing sticky left behind to grab grime.
Why low-tox matters on a retail floor
Retail and showroom environments are enclosed, air-conditioned and busy with people who are not wearing protection — customers, casual staff, children. Whatever a cleaner sprays at 6am is still in the air when the doors open. That matters more than most operators realise.
The evidence on cleaning chemicals is now hard to ignore. The ECRHS study (Svanes et al. 2018) linked long-term exposure to cleaning agents with lung-function decline comparable to around 20 pack-years of smoking. The AIHW attributes 9 to 15 per cent of adult-onset asthma to occupational exposure, with cleaning named as a high-risk occupation, and Deloitte Access Economics puts the cost of asthma to Australian employers at $526.7 million a year. On a retail site, that exposure isn't limited to the cleaner — it's shared with everyone who walks the floor.
Using methods with no added synthetic chemicals and no hazardous residue removes that risk at the source rather than managing it with ventilation and timing.
How the methods work
We match the method to the surface:
- Electrolysed water (HOCl) — GECA-certified and TGA-listed, for glass, counters, display units and general hard surfaces. Cleans and sanitises, then breaks back down to salt water.
- Stabilised aqueous ozone — for broad surface cleaning; reverts to oxygen and water with no residue.
- Dry steam — low-moisture thermal decontamination for grout, fittings, change-room surfaces and detail work where you want deep cleaning without soaking.
- Colour-coded microfibre with disciplined dwell times — so a cloth used in the amenities never touches a display cabinet.
Where a task is disinfection-critical, such as high-touch points or fitting-room surfaces, we retain TGA-listed disinfectants. We do not pretend the work is chemical-free — the point is no hazardous residue and no unnecessary synthetic load on your floor.
The compliance and ratings angle
From 1 December 2026, enforceable Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) replace the current WES across around 700 reviewed chemicals. Under the WHS hierarchy of controls, elimination — not simply reducing exposure — sits at the top. Choosing methods that don't introduce hazardous chemicals in the first place is the cleanest way to stay ahead of that shift.
For larger retail groups and shopping-centre operators pursuing building performance, GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit, WELL's Cleaning Products & Protocol feature targets hazardous-chemical reduction, and NABERS Indoor Environment measures VOCs and formaldehyde. Our commercial cleaning programs are documented to support those credits where they apply.
What a Cairns program looks like
Cairns adds its own pressure. Tropical humidity and the coastal climate push mould and mildew hard, particularly around entryways, back-of-house areas, cool-room surrounds and any space with poor airflow. Salt-laden air also leaves a haze on glass that a residue-based clean only makes worse. Dry steam and residue-free surface cleaning are well suited to both problems.
A typical program is built around your trading hours — pre-open or post-close servicing of shopfloor glass, entries, floors, counters and high-touch points, with periodic detailing of fittings, change rooms and back-of-house. Frequency scales to foot traffic and site type, from daily servicing on high-turnover floors to scheduled visits for lower-traffic showrooms. Scope is set at the walkthrough, not guessed at over the phone.
We operate across Cairns and can extend a consistent standard across multi-site retail portfolios through our accredited partner network. Explore the full range on our retail cleaning service.
Pricing
On standard retail scopes we price at parity with conventional cleaning — the low-tox method is not a premium in itself. A surcharge of 10 to 15 per cent applies only on health or rating-critical sites where documentation and specific protocols are required. You will know which applies before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
Will eco cleaning actually leave my display glass streak-free?
Yes. Electrolysed water cleans then reverts to salt water, so there is no synthetic film left to smear or haze. In practice, residue-free glass and cabinets stay looking cleaned longer because there is nothing tacky to attract dust and fingerprints.
Is it safe to have shoppers and stock on the floor after cleaning?
That is the main reason retailers move to these methods. With no added synthetic chemicals and no hazardous residue on surfaces, there is nothing lingering in the air or on stock when your doors open. Where disinfection is critical we use TGA-listed products applied to strict dwell times.
Does eco cleaning handle mould in the Cairns climate?
Cairns humidity drives mould and mildew, especially around entries, cool-room surrounds and low-airflow back-of-house areas. Dry steam provides low-moisture thermal decontamination for those surfaces, and residue-free cleaning avoids leaving films that hold moisture. We assess your specific problem areas at the walkthrough.
Does switching to eco cleaning cost more?
On standard retail and showroom scopes we price at parity with conventional cleaning. A surcharge of 10 to 15 per cent applies only on health or rating-critical sites needing specific protocols or documentation, and we will tell you which applies before you commit.
Can this support a Green Star or NABERS rating for our shopping centre?
Yes. GECA-certified products are deemed-to-satisfy for the Green Star Green Cleaning credit, and our programs are documented to support WELL's Cleaning Products & Protocol feature and NABERS Indoor Environment assessments where they apply. We can align scope and reporting to the rating you are pursuing.
